UTS Opaleyes

The Weasleys first match was a difficult one, with goals just not happening for the Weasleys. There were some missed opportunities for The Weasleys until the first point was finally put on the board late into the match. Two more goals came but it was too late, seekers were about to be released. When the seekers were released only several seconds passed before Weasleys seeker Jasmine Robinson had traversed the field and grabbed the tag. A quick catch was a happy ending to this match.

FINAL SCORE: UTS 120 def. Weasleys 60*

UNSW Snapes on a Plane

There was barely time to blink before Michael Moustakas had scored the opening goal off the starting line, the Weasleys were leading. UNSW returned the favour shortly after that equalling the score, however they did not runaway. Goals were being scored by both teams as the match went on, an excellent first career goal was scored by Madeline Chamberlain adding to the Weasleys total. UNSW regained bludger control and the tide turned against the Weasleys, UNSW became further out of reach as the match went on. The second half was not as good for the Weasleys as the match drew to a close against the Weasleys favour it somehow felt positive. Smiles were on every Weasley face, the Macarthur Weasleys had just been competitive against UNSW.

FINAL SCORE: UNSW 130* def. Weasleys 40

Newcastle Fireballs

Some people say history never repeats but if you had seen the Weasleys match against UNSW then their match against Newcastle you would say something different. It started the same way, a lighting fast goal by Michael Moustakas, however this time the Weasleys broke down Newcastle’s first offence. The quidditch from the Weasleys just an hour after the UNSW match was already on another level, goals were being scored by both teams at a steady rate until Newcastle broke away. The Weasleys Captain ordered Arlyta Andrew onto the pitch as seeker to defensive seek. Arlyta was successful at this for quite a while blocking the Newcastle seeker at every turn, however the match being extended meant Newcastle got another goal out of snitch range. It wasn’t much longer before the Newcastle seeker got through the defense and caught the snitch. Smiles were still on everyone’s faces, the Weasleys had been competitive against a top team again but it was with an air of disappointment, maybe there was a win there.

FINAL SCORE: Newcastle 120* def. Weasleys 40

UTS Opaleyes

Everything came in pairs on this day, the second match against UTS was far more competitive but still eerily similar to the first. A slow start but this time the Weasleys were able to stop UTS on defence slowing their goal count. When seekers were released the Weasleys put Arlyta Andrew on the defence as the Weasleys started to puncture the UTS defence more. As the game continued the goals became less frequent and the Weasleys seeker Jasmine Robinson came onto the pitch and caught the snitch, ending the game.

FINAL SCORE: UTS 100 def. Weasleys 50*

The final tournament of the 2016 state season brought the Weasleys to another level of skill and competitiveness. The Weasleys player of the tournament went to Michael Moustakas, though the tournament being his debut he displayed remarkable skill on the pitch during the course of the day. Weasleys played four matches of physical, thoughtful and skilled quidditch that showcased the great team that they are becoming. The Weasleys don’t let go of wins easily, that much was clear.
